Yesterday we reserved a table at Osteria La Sosta di Violante. Everything worked out well, and although we arrived a bit earlier than planned, we were seated within 15 minutes.

We started with the eggplant puff pastry, which was well seasoned and quite delicious. For the mains, we had the eggplant pasta and the steak strips. While the steak strips were very good and well prepared, the pasta was rather disappointing – it lacked seasoning and was swimming in oil, which made it heavy and unbalanced.

To accompany the meal, we ordered a bottle of Chianti Classico, which was enjoyable and paired nicely with the food.

For dessert, we tried the cannoli and tiramisu. Unfortunately, neither lived up to expectations: the mascarpone cream was runny, lacked flavor, and didn’t taste particularly fresh. The cannoli suffered from the same issues.

A further downside was the restrooms, which were in poor condition and clearly not cleaned regularly.

Overall, the experience was underwhelming. Aside from a couple of decent dishes, the food did not justify the reputation of the place. In our opinion, you can easily find the same dishes elsewhere in Siena with far better flavor and quality. We wouldn’t return.

The food was good overall. We started with the caprese salad, which was fine but nothing special. The torretta di melanzane was really tasty, and the vegetable soufflé (not sure of the exact Italian name) had great flavor. We also tried the lasagna, which was very good.

As a nice touch, they bring a basket of bread at the beginning, and we ordered a bottle of wine – prices across the menu were very reasonable.

For dessert, the tiramisu was a bit disappointing since it barely tasted of coffee (the ladyfingers didn’t seem soaked), and the apple strudel was just average – more dough than apple flavor.

The setting is nice, but if you sit outside, be prepared for traffic and some noise as cars constantly pass by. Also, fun fact: the street is slightly slanted, and since I was sitting with my back facing “downhill,” I ended up doing some core work the whole meal to keep from sliding back. Durante el año que viví en Siena fue una de las osterias más buenas que probé. Me enamoré de la Lasagna a la Violante. No sé si seguirá en carta, pero todo lo que probamos estaba buenísimo. Ottima osteria nel centro di siena.
Cucina sienese ,  buoni i paccheri e delizioso il "tonno" di coniglio. Vasta scelta di vini locali sia al calice che bottiglie.  Servizio cordiale e rapido .
Unico bagno ma pulito. Postisia all'interno cheall'esterno sulla strada.

It's an amaizing place! The first day we had the luck to find one last free table, but the next day we made a reservation. The food is incredible. We had pasta, beef and every thing was incredible. Everyone who comes to Siena should eat here. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. We loved it.
